The short version
Many, maybe most, South Bay families start with a public charter's independent study program: it pairs you with a credentialed teacher and curriculum funds, with the trade-off that materials stay secular. School isn't compulsory until age six, and a charter isn't required either. Some families file their own private school affidavit instead (free, total curriculum freedom), or join a private school satellite program. South Bay Homeschool Club lists the charters, satellite programs and enrichment programs available to South Bay families, with ages, costs and contact details, each dated and sourced.
Why I made this
I'm a South Bay mom preparing to homeschool for the first time, and it can feel like you're figuring it out alone. You're not, we're all doing this together: I couldn't find anything that pulled the pieces together, so I'm building it here, checking each fact and dating it, in case it helps other families on the same search.
